Six new names for club beats, re-Tweets and rockin’ on the streets
Azari & III
All about retro disco and house beats
Pronounced “Azari & Third”, this Toronto duo (aka Dinamo Azari and Alixander III) have been making their mark with their mixture of old-skool hooks and grooves with fresh production and vocals. The prime example is “Reckless (With Your Love)”, which first dropped on Munich disco outlet Permenant Vacation last year, and “Hungry For The Power” (with its banned-by-YouTube video) on I'm A Cliche. They'll be touring this summer including live dates at festivals in London, so let them take you back to the future.
Catch Azari & III live at LED Festival, London

Jammer
The leader of 10-man pack
How many people do you take out with you when you go clubbing? You and the missus? A handful of mates? You need to work on that. Walthamstow's Jammer here doesn't go anywhere without at least nine blokes. That’s the thinking behind his current club smash “Ten Man Roll”. The tune features the rest of the Boy Better Know crew who you'll remember from this tune's sort-of prequel “We Need Some More Girls In Here”. Jammer has been in the business for 10 years and is known for his 'Are You Dumb' mixtapes, but this is his first release.
'10 Man Roll’ feat Boy Better Know is out now

Carte Blanche
DJ Medhi and Riton unite
What do you get when you cross DJ/producer extrodinaire Riton with Ed Banger's main monsieur DJ Medhi? You get four decks, one mixer, a TR 909, a tour and a brand new EP from the newly formed Carte Blanche. Their new Black Billionaires EP consists of five fresh tracks, including “Gare Du Nord” as well as “Do! Do Do!”, featuring Kid Sister. Carte Blanche will be touring all major cities in Europe and America over the summer months. Translating into English as 'blank cheque', it’s looking like Carte Blanche might not just be their name, but also their game.
“Black Billionaires” EP is out in July

Walls
Kompakt’s duo of ambient weirdness
Kompakt described Walls as their easiest signing ever. They're the combination of Alessio Natalizia (of Banjo Or Freakout) and Sam Willis (of Allez-Allez). Alessio's guitar and vocals meets Sam's synths and samples to create slow-mo electronica and organic soundscapes with the same gentle gravitas as Riceboy Sleeps. They say, "We have a pastoral take on the natural world, music that has a natural, unique and personal feel - utilising the best that old/modern technology has to offer». We say its perfect music to block out airplane engines as you drift off into a new time zone.
Walls 'new single “Hang Four" is out now

Redlight
Genre-defying Somerset super-producer
Redlights acid-jungle-step has won support from Rusko, Skream and Annie Mac. It’s no surprise: Hugh Pescod is one-time d'n'b revolutionary Clipz. Last year's reinvention as Redlight saw him throw off the sound shackles, and his forward-thinking fusion of acid house, techno, hip hop, jungle and hardcore is smashing boundaries - and eardrums. With “Stupid” and synth-step juggernaut 'MDMA' setting clubs alight this year plus remixes for Magnetic Man, Rusko and an imminent collaboration with Ms Dynamite, Redlight is shining bright.
Catch Redlight this summer at Ministry (July 25), The Big Chill (Aug 7) and Eden Ibiza (Aug 25)

Cassette Jam
Ballistic rock’n’rave duo
Since winning Cream’s DJ contest in 2006, Rory and Will have been DJing around the world. Last year, with the help of Mark Filthy Dukes, they pieced together an album using Kraftwerk's old mixing desk. The Cure's old bass guitar and collabs with Caged Baby, Sunshine Underground and Lego Johnson. They're now touring as a band, playing the results live. The self titled album is predominantly rock’n’rave a la Prodigy with fun lyrics like, "You're stuck on level two of More Brain Training”. On latest single “Speed Of Light”, questioning man's progress, they ask, “Where are the hover cars?”. It's a valid question.
Cassette Jam's self-titled album is out July 26
