Hello, my name is Tom Staar!
The third member of the Moda family is ready to claim the limelight!
WHO? Tom Ingamells, 28
SOUNDS LIKE? Buzzy, quirky electro and techno as heard across the planet’s Moda parties
Tom’s already lived the superstar Dj life. Ten years ago, aged 17, he was travelling the world, selling thousands of records and working as Tidy’s studio engineer under the guise Ingo Staar. When we ask him what he's done with all the money, he laughs: "Blown it all pretty much! I was young at the time. Good times though!"
After his stint in hard dance Tom applied his engineering skills to stilt working with different artists. He packed his entire studio into his Land Rover and drove it to Ibiza for three seasons’ engineering for the likes of Filthy Rich, Darren Emerson, Doorly, Nick Bridges and Prok & Fitch.
Back in Blighty. Tom helps run the Moda night and label with Radio 1's Jaymo & Andy George. After a joint tour with Mixmag, Moda began putting on monthly parties in London, weeklies at Tong's Wonderland in Eden and later this year in Barcelona and Milan. It's also helped his DJing as Tom Staar, and now he wants to make more music for himself. "I need to get cracking on my own music now. I've been working on other people's so much: now I'm looking forward to doing my own thing." he says.
As well as his own productions his latest EP features collaborations with Herve, Style Of Eye and Tony Senghore. With the DJing and production experience already under his belt we're pretty sure he's going to be a Staar in the making.
Catch Tom Staar at his residency at Pete Tong's Wonderland in Ibiza, in room two hosted by Moda.
