Fresh blood – Glasser!

She’s been compared to Fever Ray, Bjork and Kate Bush, but Glasser doesn’t shatter!

WHO? Cameron Mesirow, 26

SOUNDS LIKE? Eclectic, eccentric, electro-acoustic

Glasser’s powerful, vocal, electro-acoustic sound is an amalgamation of Kate Bush, GarageBand and Berlin. Cameron Mesirow, aka Glasser, found her confidence in making music five years ago when she began using GarageBand, the free production software on Macs. Around the same time she rediscovered Kate Bush and everything fell into place. “All these things percolated at the same time: GarageBand, thinking of myself as capable of making music on my own and listening to Kate Bush”, she says.

The only thing that was left was for her to experience the city of techno, which she did when visiting her father. “It was a rainy Monday morning in Berlin and I rolled out of bed, had my tea and went to Berghain. I just danced by myself for hours in the dark. It was a real minimal sound and I was inspired.”

This October she will release her debut album, 'Ring', having completed a tour with The xx, worked with Fever Ray's production team, been remixed by Delorean and released two well received EPs on True Panther Sounds. Some have dubbed her the American Fever Ray, and she's often compared to Bjork. Yet despite all the hype, she isn't fazed. “I'm pretty happy” she purrs. “I like to laugh a lot and have fun. I love to dance and sing.” It's likely Glasser is going to be laughing, singing and dancing for a long time to come.
